Well, I really like the movie Kites. You will see what I'm talking about after you watch this movie. This film is a collaboration of director Ray and the lead actor Jay --- both from Kollywood. Kites is a period drama set in the Kingdom of Travancore which is set in the late 19th Century (the 19th Century was a golden age for Travancore and its state council).
The film has themes that everyone can relate to; love, friendship, freedom, betrayal, duty, friendship, justice. It is a simple story, yet it is as intense as the rest of the film. The director has beautiful visuals. You can tell he has lots of experience in making films. The actors have really helped pull off the fantastic visuals.
The things I like about Kites are the good old acting skills --- lots of talented actors --- the way they capture the moments of a scene with no spoken word... the characters talk through their actions and expressions --- and that's what makes the film look so real. It looks really, really real. Combine that with great gestures and expressions, and you will know how real the movie actually is. And that's because of the acting and visuals.
The performances are the most attractive part of the film. Chiyaan Vikram who plays Jay is brilliant. His expressions are wonderful... while Abhishek is good as Sudip --- a character with lots of attitude and negative energy which makes him good for comic effect. d2c66b5586
