The general tasksof maritime logistics include the planning, design, implementation and controlof material and information flows in the logistics chain ship - port -hinterland. This includes technology assessment, selection, dimensioning andimplementation as well as the operation of technologies.
The aim of thecourse is to provide students with knowledge of maritime transport and theactors involved in the maritime transport chain. Typical problem areas andtasks will be dealt with, taking into account the economic development. Thus,classical problems as well as current developments and trends in the field ofmaritime logistics are considered.
In the lecture,the components of the maritime logistics chain and the actors involved will beexamined and risk assessments of human disturbances on the supply chain will bedeveloped. In addition, students learn to estimate the potential ofdigitisation in maritime shipping, especially with regard to the monitoring ofships. Further content of the lecture is the different modes of transport inthe hinterland, which students can evaluate after completion of the courseregarding their advantages and disadvantages.
